Bester Elementary students contribute art to bookplates - 10/24/05
Bester Elementary School students, under the guidance of Library Media Specialist Diane Mentzer, recently provided drawings and writings to be placed on the bookplates of books being donated by Scholastic Inc. to the Humanity Plaza project in New York City.
Habitat for Humanity volunteers in New York City worked around the clock in Rockefeller Plaza, renamed Humanity Plaza, during the week of Sept. 26, building homes for families displaced by Gulf Coast hurricanes.
Scholastic Inc. donated 100 children's books, each featuring student drawings and writings, for each of those homes.
Bester students in grades one through five also wrote or drew "welcome home" messages. These letters will be placed in the books that are donated.
