Comprehensive School Reform Portfolio
ORGANIZATIONAL PRACTICE Organizational practice is strength for Bester Elementary. Because the school was restructured for the 2005-2006 school more time was allocated for professional development and focusing on best practice and student achievement. Year 1: Student-teacher ratio was maintained at 20:1. A block schedule was introduced to allow for team planning and collaboration. Adequate time frames were allocated to meet the curricular demands. Year 2: The development of the Student Achievement Team to look weekly at the needs of students and staff to support teaching and learning. Parents are invited to be a member of the School Improvement Team. Year 3: Team meetings are teacher led and includes the
time to reflect on student work and the effectiveness of lessons. Professional
development includes increased opportunities for teachers to create
authentic lessons and reflection upon those lessons. |
