The town of Boonsboro, Maryland was founded in 1791
by brothers George and Wilham Boone (cousins of the famous Daniel Boone).
The town grew over the years because of the National Pike. Today,
it is still a growing town of over 3,000 people. Boonsboro Elementary
School was originally built in 1950 and included 12 classrooms, a kindergarten
room, small library, and multi-purpose room (gymnasium). In 1992, a new
addition was completed which included eight new classrooms, four special
area rooms, and offices.
At Boonsboro Elementary School, our educational
philosophy is that we recognize each child as an individual: emotionally,
socially, mentally, and physically. The function of our school is to create
an atmosphere that ensures opportunities for continuous growth and accommodates
the child's individual abilities, interests, learning styles, and talents.
In cooperation with the family, school, and community, Boonsboro
Elementary is working together to develop each student's intellectual
capacity, character, and citizenship. Additionally, the school strives
to build personal values and promote self-worth and human dignity for
each child. Students learn to work together and to take pride in
their school and the Boonsboro community.
