Washington County Public Library "Battle of the Books"
Who can be involved in the program?
- Children in grades four through six.
- Interested parents, teachers, or other adults who are willing to
play a vital part as team managers.
Why have a Battle of the Books program?
- To encourage children to read well written books that are
interesting and entertaining.
- To give recognition to children who already like to read, but
haven't had a chance to win applause as do children involved in sports,
music, and the arts.
- To help teach children how to be gracious winners or losers.
Washington County
Girls Softball League
We
are a recreational league NOT a travel league, we are here for all the girls
to play, learn and have fun. We have three different divisions of fast
pitch.
Elementary School Division-Where the fundamentals are taught.
Middle School Division- Fundamentals are practiced and to get ready for high school competition if they choose to play on the school team.
High School Division-Where the girls get to play, whether a player is on their school team or just to play.

Cub/Boy
Scouts of America
The mission of the Boy Scouts
of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over
their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
In Cub Scouting, this is emphasized in the Cub Scout Promise and the Law of
the Pack.
Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of
America has helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. It is a year-round
family program designed for boys who are in the first grade through fifth
grade (or 7, 8, 9, and 10 years of age). Parents, leaders, and organizations
work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting. Currently, Cub
Scouting is the largest of the BSA's three membership divisions.
