Roles & Responsibilities of the Parent

The Williamsport High School Lady Wildcats Soccer program’s mission is to develop and facilitate a high level of soccer competence and sportsmanship = for our young adult participants.  The positive support and encouragement that you display toward coaches, referee= s, players of both teams, and opposing fans is the best possible way for you to support our student athletes.  Be a positive role model and ambassador for our school! 

 

1.      Parents must demonstrate the utmost = in sportsmanship and integrity; they are the role models for their child.  Foul or abusive language will not = be tolerated under any circumstances.

2.      Parents should be respectful of the referees and their assistants.  They will not harass, abuse, or berate the referee during or after the match.

3.      Parents should be respectful of the coaching staff.  The coaches g= ive a great deal of their personal time toward the development of each student athlete and employ a strategic coaching philosophy.  Parents should not publicly critic= ize a coach or coach from the sidelines.  Allow the coach to do his/her job even when you may disagree. 

4.      Parents should be respectful to the opposing team.  Our opponents = are necessary friends; without them, our team could not participate in matches!= Be ambassadors of Williamspo= rt High School; treat = the opposing team’s players and spectators with respect and hospitality.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> 

5.      Parents should be supportive of our = soccer program.  Get involved by volunteering to help our team with one of the many support roles when asked= to do so. 

6.      The coach is responsible for all tac= tical and technical decisions employed by our team as well as playing time and positions.  Respect coaching decisions as you would any other teacher at WHS.

7.      If your child has any questions or concerns, she will be encouraged to first talk with her coach regarding the matter.  After this step, if y= our child is not satisfied with the coach’s response, the parent and child together can schedule a meeting with the coach.  Please do not approach coaches dur= ing or after games or practices with your concerns.
