Roles & Responsibilities of the Player

At the high school level of competition, success and fun on the soccer field do not come without some extra effort.  It takes more than just “showing up” on the day of a gam= e.  It takes the kind of effort and commitment that involves hard work, choices about the way you spend your fr= ee time, and perhaps some sacrifices on your part.  Carefully consider the following commitment that the WHS Lady Wildcats Soccer coaching staff asks all player= s to make.  If you are willing to m= ake this commitment, our coaching staff can help you become a better soccer pla= yer and a contributing member of our program.&= nbsp; As a coaching staff, we are committed to work hard to help you impro= ve your skills, gain greater knowledge of the game, and make every training session an instructional and challenging experience. 

 

1.      Players will learn the rules, polici= es, and procedures of WCPS, WHS, WHS Lady Wildcats Soccer and the game of socce= r.

2.      Players will be present and punctual= for all practices, games, and team events.&nbs= p; Exceptions to this rule will be made for religious or family events = or required school work (a note from a teacher is required).  Notify the Coach in advance if you will be tardy or unable to attend a practice/training session, game, or team event. 

3.      Players are expected to give 100% at= all practices and games.

4.      Players are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship and be responsible for personal behavior and actions.  Profanity and inappropriate gestur= es will not be tolerated.  <= /o:p>

5.      Players will adhere to WCPS and WHS policies and refrain from the use of tobacco, alcohol, and controlled substances.

6.      Players will encourage and never cri= ticize teammates or opponents.  =

7.      Players understand that playing time= and position on the team is determined by the individual player’s success= ful learning and execution of the technical, tactical, psychological, and physi= cal aspects of the game.  Any ques= tions regarding playing time will first be discussed with the coaching staff befo= re involving parents. 

8.       All disciplinary measures will be d= ecided upon and implemented by the coaching staff on a case by case basis.  The coaching staff may impose disciplinary measures for misconduct both on and off the field.  Disciplinary measures may include = extra work after practice, loss of playing time, or dismissal from the team.
